ABOUT ME
Lucy Boas, LMFT
I’m Lucy.
You’re looking for a safe, confidential space where you can be honest about what’s really going on with someone you trust.
You’d like to trust yourself more and feel more at ease .
Hopefully you’ll leave our sessions feeling a little lighter, a little clearer, and a little more understood.
I’ve been a licensed therapist for 24 years. I enjoy working with adults of all ages. I’m down to earth and easy to talk to. I provide a warm and non-judgmental space to explore whatever brings you in.
My Approach
Psychodynamic
I approach therapy through a psychodynamic lens- meaning together we pay attention to patterns, early experiences, and the ways the past might quietly show up in the present.
Humanistic
I also draw on humanistic principles, taking my cues from you and trusting that you know best what needs attention. I’m here to listen and to stay curious about what matters to you.
A blend of the two: Control Mastery Theory
Developed by Joseph Weiss and Harold Sampson in San Francisco, Control Mastery Theory is based on the idea that people naturally want to move forward in life — to grow, to change, to reach what matters to them — but are often held back by beliefs formed early in life. In a safe and caring space, those old beliefs can slowly come into view — ideas that made sense once, but may no longer fit — and begin to lose their hold.
In this model, the client plays an active role in shaping the work — guiding the therapy toward what they most need.
Central to this approach is the idea that the therapist's curiosity, warmth, and genuine interest in the person is itself part of what allows something to shift.
